Olivia Burton, 23, moves to California with her boyfriend, Francis Morales, 24, against the wishes of their family members. Francis’ mother, Lillian, is a devout Catholic who disapproves of her son’s life and expresses her feelings through violent, religious-themed postcards. Despite these contradictions, the young lovers settle into a new, exciting life together. Their happiness is interrupted, but Francis is physically and mentally scarred after a strange accident. He soon suffers from night terrors, whispering Olivia’s invisible figure in his sleep and sleepwalking in strange corners of the house. These episodes frighten Olivia and also suggest that Francis may be hiding something from her. Her investigation leads to a chilling and twisted discovery; they are haunted by the ghost of Francis’ childhood youth minister, an entity enraged by their life together and coming to punish them for their sins.
